CASH HANDLING SPECIALIST

The individual selected for this position will be responsible for safeguarding and handling money in accordance with company money handling procedures. Job Responsibilities:

The Cash Handling Specialist will:

  • Adhere to all company Cash Handling and PCI policies
  • Count, endorse, and encode currency and checks by using specialized equipment
  • Review, record and resolve any variances between the pay package count and money envelopes received
  • Print receipts and prepare deposit slips for the bank
  • Document deposit information on the money report
  • Maintain confidentiality of school/student related information
  • Track spec and/or proof package collection via tracking tool
  • Collect money bags from secure drop boxes regularly, and check-in the tamper-proof money bags as they come into the Accounts Receivable Room
  • Review money bags for accuracy
  • Open money bags and separate currency, credit card confirmation payments, and checks received from customers
  • Sort currency by amount/denomination
  • Document any issues or discrepancies
  • Bundle checks and cash, place the bundles into appropriate money bags, and secure/organize money bags in appropriate location(s)
  • Monitor and organize accounts receivable room inventory supplies and notify the supervisor in a timely manner if supplies are needed
  • Provide clerical support including filing, photo copying, document creation, etc.
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Basic technical and computer skills
  • Ability to learn and operate a computer, calculator, currency scanner, high speed currency counter and coin sorter
  • General math skills and accounting/reconciliation skills
  • High level of accuracy
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle high volume of work and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
