Lifetouch Inc., the world's largest employee-owned photography company, has built a reputation of excellence and innovation, and is seeking a non-exempt Equipment Systems & Support (E.S.S.) Mechanical Assembly/Repair Specialist to join our team in Burnsville, MN.

 

Job Description:

The ESS Mechanical Assembly/Repair Specialist produce assemblies and subassemblies of highest quality to allow for ease of assembly with other higher level assemblies.  They repair assemblies and subassemblies that have been returned.  Use of drawings, tooling, and procedures required to complete assemblies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the assembly, repair and inspection of components and assemblies produced for the field and labs. This can involve mechanical, electrical, wood, plastic, rubber and other components.
  • Understand all mechanical drawings (assembly and detail). Understand electrical drawings as required to complete work orders.
  • Create fixtures, tools and procedures for the assembly, repair and inspection functions.
  • Understand all features and functions of the equipment being supported. This includes proper setup, positioning and operation.
  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of spare and repair parts.
  • Keep the support lead well informed of any problems or trends developing in the field, Photography, Engineering or the ESS Dept.
  • Develop spare and repair parts inventory that will be necessary to meet agreed upon service policies.
  • Maintain safe efficient and productive workspace. Inspect or be able to inspect background and props and other photo equipment requiring artistic consistency.
  • Assembles fabricated parts at floor stations.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
  • Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repair as necessary.
  • Help maintain assembly procedures to ensure all parameters whether verbal, written or from engineering drawings are completed and verifiable.
  • Work with Leads to insure greatest efficiency with space, and time.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment that has been returned to Equipment and Systems Support for repair
  • Work with other assemblers to meet acceptable quality levels and department goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma.

Experience:

  • 2-3 Years relevant experience

 Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Strong mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Must be capable of lifting equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
