HR Manager- Loves Park, IL

Job Summary

This position is based in a production plant and serves as the primary HR business partner to the Plant Manager and plant leadership team on HR related issues and acts as an employee champion and change agent to achieve business goals. The primary responsibilities of this job are to develop and execute effective workforce plans, foster a positive work culture, manage employee relations, coach leaders to optimize team performance, participate in and contribute to strategic business initiatives, and manage all local HR functions in a non-union environment. This position also communicates proactively with the HR Director and works collaboratively to develop and execute short and long term strategic initiatives to drive high performance and continuous improvement.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive and manage workforce planning and staffing function for the plant.
  • Work closely with the leadership team on the planning and execution of seasonal ramp-up and ramp-down process to meet labor targets.
  • Maintain effective employee relations through regular interactions and participation in production-related activities and initiatives; proactively identify trends and recommend solutions.
  • Investigate and resolve employee issues, following company protocol and processes.
  • Lead, train, coach and develop the HR team to optimize performance and engagement.
  • Manage the processing and integrity of HR data according to company guidelines, including: on-boarding and off-boarding activities, maintenance of confidential data and documents, administration of automated timekeeping and payroll reporting process, and HRIS reporting.
  • Manage and ensure compliance for the plant for all HR-related functions per company guidelines, federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Administer non-exempt leave of absence administration, job accommodation and return-to-work processes.
  • Ensure company policies are implemented, adhered to and appropriately communicated to team members.
  • Identify learning and development needs; facilitate leadership development and learning programs.
  • Work closely with leadership team to identify production position requirements and skill needs to identify gaps; integrate production requirements such as training, KPIs and safety into team member on-boarding and performance management systems.
  • Facilitate, communicate and administer HR and employee relations programs such as employee engagement and recognition.
  • In partnership with HR Director and corporate compensation team, manage and review hourly associate compensation, make recommendations based on local labor market and other factors.
  • Act as a change agent and leader for the plant organization.
  • Work closely with Plant Manager and Director of HR to create talent and succession plans and drive individual development initiatives.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with others to evaluate and execute human resource programs and policies
  • Assist with the implementation and administration of compensation programs, employee engagement surveys and other human resources initiatives.
  • Perform other projects or miscellaneous duties as requested or assigned.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years related HR experience, including 3 years managing an HR team.
  • HR experience in a seasonal and/or manufacturing environment desired.
