Job Description

Responsible for supervising daily portrait production department activities and establishes, maintains, and monitors quality, service, and cost / productivity performance of team.

  • Emphasizes continuous process improvement culture – Utilizes internal and external customer feedback, establishes and maintains key metrics, and utilizes process improvement methodologies such as Operational Excellence, Lean Enterprise, and Six Sigma to continually improve quality, service, and cost levels.
  • Maintains portrait production process control – Utilizes ISO 9000, 2000 standard and Advance Process Management as methodologies to ensure portrait production process control.
  • Establishes priorities, delegates and distributes workload, and coordinates and communicates operational status across all portrait production departments as required.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and associate training to meet forecasted production volumes.

POSITION SCOPE (Include budget responsibility, locations supported etc.):

  • Directly supervises team leads, core associates, and seasonal associates (at peak) in digital edit, retouch, print, process, finishing, shipping, and cut departments.
  • Assists Portrait Production Manager and team with other Portrait Production Supervisors in developing and maintaining a $14M annual operating budget.
  • Accountable for production of approximately 1.2M annual LCD portrait orders and 2.2M annual LPS portrait orders. As well as future LPP production of approximately 1.2M annual portrait orders.
  • Accountable for quality directory pose image and member information availability as required by host customer product fulfillment

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures / maintains compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs as required.
  • Working with Portrait Production Manager, helps implement long term strategic plans for portrait and publishing production departments.
  • Establishes and utilizes methodology for forecasting labor needs based on photography schedules, sit receipts, and sits shipped forecasts.
  • Maintains portrait production related variable expenses based on cost per order basis, taking into account product mix impact.
  • Working with Portrait Production Manager, helps establish and maintain key metrics pertaining to portrait production quality, service, and costs.
  • Helps drive continuous improvement programs aimed at improving quality, improving service, and decreasing costs.
  • Provides leadership and supervises the functional departments.
  • Completes staffing, developmental, evaluative, coaching and other Human Resource activities.
  • Provides associate performance feedback to portrait production managers and supervisors.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience


  • At least one year manufacturing leadership experience; printing and / or portrait lab industry experience strongly preferred
