Job Description

Lifetouch National School Studios, a Shutterfly Inc. Company, is currently searching for a Production Supervisor to join the Chesapeake VA team.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for cultivating an environment of employee engagement and continuous improvement to deliver value, exceed customer expectations, and help Lifetouch preserve lifelong memories. This role provides leadership through continuous improvement utilizing lean tools, drives results according to the production goals, plans and assigns work and communicates and implements policies and procedures. The Production Supervisor conducts themselves in a professional manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise department operations with continuous improvement leadership
  • Provide professional guidance and coaching to employees ensuring the delivery on all production objectives and goals.
  • Develop and implement solutions to problems involving scheduling of personnel.
  • Ensure department goals are achieved daily, weekly, monthly and seasonally for quality, productivity, delivery, safety and customer service.
  • Recommend, develop and implement cost reduction/profit improvement ideas.
  • Manage Lean activities; such as schedule and participate in running Kaizen events, documenting standard work, and 6S (safety).
  • Actively work to reduce the 8 forms of waste within the Production value stream.
  • Plan, forecast, coordinate and communicate the work schedule to meet production needs.
  • Set priorities, delegate and distribute necessary workload.
  • Ensure the use and training of safety devices and equipment and correct any hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Plan and oversee the training and development of all new and existing department employees.
  • Develop the team through employee involvement and encourage/develop employee creativity.
  • Evaluate employee performance to determine needs for improvement. Conduct performance evaluations as needed. Create and administer an action plan to employees with performance deficiencies in accordance with company practice and procedure.
  • Ensure accurate time and attendance records of department employees. Address attendance issues promptly with corrective action plan. Review all requested time off and approve where appropriate.
  • Manage production initiatives as required by the plant strategy.
  • Conduct individual or team meetings to share information and answer questions.
  • Resolve employee conflicts, concerns and complaints in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure proper communication between all employees in department and between shifts.
  • Assist with interviewing and selection of applicants for department positions and seasonal hiring.
