Job Description

Lifetouch National School Studios- Home Office (Eden Prairie, MN)

Summary:

The Regional Director, Sales will lead and manage the field organization within assigned geographic area, ultimately driving and maximizing profitable growth.  Ensure maximum sales coverage within the region by directing the canvassing of accounts and targeted prospects for all products and programs.  Meet or exceed sales, retention, profit contribution, participation and market share goals. Create a superior field organization through the leadership and ongoing development of people. Represent region’s priority needs to home office functional areas in order to receive the support necessary to drive profitable growth.  Facilitate communication within the region, territories, home office and plants

Position Scope (Include budget responsibility, locations supported etc.)

  • Territory and Area Sales Managers within geographic area (12-15)
  • Approximately $100- $110 million in annual sales

Responsibilities: 

Maximize Sales and Profit Growth

  • Ensure coverage and market share growth through the canvassing of every account, appropriate expansion of product lines, realignment of boundaries and effective integration of acquisitions.
  • Develop and communicate comprehensive sales plans and performance goals. Review and monitor actual performance compared to goals on an ongoing basis. Take corrective action as needed. Respond to direction provided by the Vice President, Sales.
  • Develop strategy and provide direction to Territory Managers/Area Sales Managers on sales and profit improvement opportunities and plans.
  • Aggressively implement account profitability initiatives to drive overall profit contribution, balancing short and long term requirements.
  • Partner with home office functional areas and Director of Sales Operations to surface regional business requirements and needs
  • Ensure Territory Manager/Area Sales Manager accountability for the effectiveness of all sales people, and other team members to sell market and service appropriate products, programs and market segments.
  • Ensure field offices are structured and staffed properly to maximize sales growth, photographic quality, operational excellence and customer service.
  • Oversee the management of field costs; review/approve budget proposals.
  • Work with support teams to locate, evaluate and ultimately integrate potential acquisitions.
  • Provide direction to the field organization that improves participation. Coordinate efforts with photography, marketing and business segments.
  • Evaluate school commission strategies and processes.

Maximize People Effectiveness

  • Ensure that plans are in place for management succession, staffing and employee development for each territory.   Identify and develop a successor.
  • Ensure recruiting, selection, hiring, compensation and performance management practices concur with company policies.
  • Select, develop and motivate management talent to maintain a superior field organization in the assigned area.
  • Evaluate sales force effectiveness in the area and respond as needed with hiring and training to maximize performance.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of sales and financial reports, records, supplies and files deemed by the Company to be necessary for responsible and efficient operation, including within assigned field locations as needed.

Strategy

  • Provide input to senior management regarding sales and operating strategies and programs to increase revenues and profits and to provide industry differentiation.
  • Work collaboratively with home office functional counterparts to create and execute regional strategies.
  • Communicate and ensure implementation of company strategies, programs and policies in the field organization.

Relationships

  • Work with identified Marketing staff to increase market share and participation in the area.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with assigned geographic area, home office partners and plants.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure compliance to company policies and to maximize people development and effectiveness.

Other

  • Recommend, prepare and manage sales management expense budgets, staffing plans, management incentive and merit increase programs.
  • Represent the company’s values and execute the company’s vision and envisioned future.
  • Complete special projects and/or duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration or related field
  • MBA preferred

Experience:

  • Ten years of sales management experience preferred or combination of education and experience
