Job Description

Provides high-level professional support for the implementation, management, and evaluation of all phases of the computer systems administration program or plan for a Lifetouch Inc. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Works closely with other engineers to gather requirements, research, evaluate, design, plan, deploy, and support Linux-based / open source software platforms and related technologies that meet the needs of the divisional engineering teams.
  • Builds highly resilient, high-performance, scalable, and flexible systems based on established standards. 
  • Participates in an after-hours/weekend, on-call rotation.
  • Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis of complex user and server problems.
  • Resolves Service and Problem tickets within established SLAs.
  • Establishes and implements system policy, procedures, and standards while ensuring conformity with information systems goals.
  • Uses development tools and languages as necessary to efficiently support and troubleshoot systems.
  • Recommends, requests, and tunes system monitoring.
  • Enforces/applies security policy (PCI).
  • Thoroughly documents all system changes, processes, procedures, and techniques.
  • Learns and applies new systems and system administration techniques and tasks.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Performs other projects or miscellaneous duties as requested or assigned

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or equivalent experience
  • IT function specialty certifications

 

Experience

  • 5-8 years of Unix/Linux physical/virtual system administration experience, in a production/enterprise environment.

Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities): 

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Red Hat and/or CentOS Linux.
  • Strong scripting skills using Bash and Python.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet/Ansible), provisioning and Infrastructure-as-code.
  • Storage installation and tuning experience (Gluster, Lustre, Ceph)
  • Sun/Oracle Solaris experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of PCI security compliance process and procedures a plus.
  • Comfortable working with business critical and sensitive systems, with a sense of urgency appropriate to the  
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent listening and customer-service communication skills.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Highly motivated self-starter that is able to work independently, with keen attention to detail.
  • Travel when necessary (up to 5-10%).
