Job Description


The Staff Accountant supports the Accounting function in the Finance department by playing a key role in journal entry preparation and posting, balance sheet account reconciliation preparation and variance research/analysis, and budget, forecasting, and financial statement preparation. The Staff Accountant is expected to follow all department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with public company accounting standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and posts monthly journal entries for a variety of transactions and reconciles variances.
  • Maintains, and ensures accuracy of, cash, accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid asset, fixed asset, other asset, deferred revenue, other accrued liability, and equity account reconciliations, investigating and resolving all variances in a timely manner.
  • Tracks and reconciles promotion spend programs, fixed assets sub-ledger, and deferred revenue invoices accurately in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Assists in month-end close accounting procedures and analysis, including commenting on variances to budget, forecast, and prior year for accounts, departments, and business units.
  • Serves as the point of contact for all third party vendor (e.g., product, computer lease) accounts receivables departments and all credit card processors.
  • Safe-guards all customer, employee and company proprietary and personal information ensuring customer and employee data is kept confidential at all times.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the identification, development and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains inventory of leased computers and credit card terminals in the field and orders new terminals as needed.
  • Participates in preparation of annual budgets, audit schedules, and tax schedules.
  • Coordinates with Treasury Department for closing/opening of bank accounts.
  • Performs other projects or miscellaneous duties as requested or assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required or related experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, preferred.


    • 1 - 2 years accounting and financial analysis, preferably in public accounting or a public company.
    • Using Microsoft applications, specifically advanced Microsoft Excel. Microsoft Access, preferred.
  • Infor ERP and Essbase software, preferred.
