Job Description


The Training Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and enhancement of relevant and accurate training programs and materials related to systems, processes and initiatives to support the field training needs of the organization and field employee skill development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, implements and updates/enhances training materials (e.g., online courses, paper-based, facilitator led, webcast) and tools (e.g., quick reference guides, activities) that result in effective training on business processes (e.g., sales, account service), systems (e.g., Salesforce), and initiatives, to enable skill development, to ensure preparedness for peak seasons or business changes, and to increase knowledge, equipping new and existing field employees to consistently and successfully perform their job.
  • Administers the Learning Management System by managing the shared mailbox, helping users, running reports, uploading and archiving course and resources, maintaining accurate information and historical records, supporting and testing system upgrades or changes, etc.
  • Safe-guards all customer, employee and company proprietary and personal information ensuring customer and employee data is kept confidential at all times.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains technical documentation (e.g., work instructions, user guides).
  • Facilitates training sessions (e.g., train-the-trainer).
  • Performs other projects or miscellaneous duties as requested or assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training or related field, or equivalent related experience.


  • 2 - 5 years of experience performing training functions, supporting a distributed field workforce.
  • Working with cross-functional teams.

Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to, work with a field organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Working and demonstrated knowledge of training and adult learning theory.
  • Proficient in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator)
  • Working knowledge of elearning authoring tools (e.g., Camtasia, Storyline, Absorb, Articulate) and learning management systems (e.g., Absorb).
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Detail oriented in the execution and follow-up of work.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to balance and execute against multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.
  • Takes initiatives.
