Job Description

Manages the risk management function of workers compensation, general and auto liability claims.  This position is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on claims within set authority levels, in addition to supporting the third-party claim administrator.  Included in these responsibilities are monitoring claim expenditures, developing management level reports for HR and reviewing claim activities.  This is a temporary position anticipated through September 2018.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Serves as principle liaison between all business units and the third-party claim administrator providing oversight and direction on workers compensation, general and auto liability claims
  • Establishes and monitors TPA’s compliance to service standards and requirements, including ensuring accuracy of data within the iCE system. Resolves data integrity issues by working with the TPA on incorrectly coded claims.
  • Partners with corporate employment attorneys, HR Compliance Manager and HR Business Partners to facilitate timely return to work, including light duty assignments and ensuring workers comp is in accordance with ADA and EEOC policies
  • Manages compliance relative to use of Managed Care Network, prescription drug card and other vendors
  • Assesses liability and directs TPA claim examiners in claim resolution
  • Coordinates vendor referrals and additional investigation and/or litigation management
  • Oversees communication channels between internal claims team, Third Party Administrator (TPA) adjusters, outside counsel, and internal operations. Facilitates regular YPA performance audits and claim reviews
  • Directs claim recoveries including but not limited to subrogation, excess carrier
  • Reviews work compensation claims in collaboration with the corporate safety manager for all business units, analyze trend, pinpoint risk and provide recommendations to reduce risk and improve safety thereby reducing claim cost
  • Manages and leads a team by providing work direction and building teamwork
  • Monitors and evaluates individual and team performance

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources or equivalent experience

 

Experience

  • 10 or more years in human resources
  • 3 or more years of management experience

Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Strong Organizational skills and must be able to coordinate and prioritize task assignments
  • Must have workers comp knowledge across multiple states, including CA
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to exercise self-direction and initiative, and make decisions in a fast paced changing work environment
  • Ability to recognize cost containment opportunities and have proven experience in facilitating successful cost containment programs
  • Ability to prepare and present executive ready presentations
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including full knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
